Alanya Castle is located in the city of Alanya, which is part of the Antalya province, in an area that rises to an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. It was built in the 13th century AD on the remains of previous Byzantine and Roman fortifications.
The castle is surrounded by a wall that is 6.4 km long and contains 140 watchtowers, 83 confronting towers, and 400 wells.
The upper part of the castle offers charming views and serves as an open-air museum where visitors can explore the timeless relics of the successive civilizations that have inhabited the castle, including the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman eras.
Alanya Castle has been inscribed on UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites.
