Prague Astronomical Clock

The Prague Astronomical Clock is situated in the Old Town Hall of Prague, dating back to the Middle Ages. The clock is considered one of the tourist landmarks in the city.

The Prague Astronomical Clock is the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one that is still operational. The clock consists of three main parts: the astronomical dial used to tell time, astronomical cycles, sun and moon positions, and astrological signs; the calendar dial in the form of a circle; and the top part containing two small windows with wooden statues of Christ's Apostles. These statues move in a circular motion on the hour, accompanied by bell strikes and movements performed by small skeletal figures. When the time is signaled, a rooster flaps its wings, marking the completion of the hour, just as it did centuries ago.

Visitors can enter the clock tower to learn about its functioning and observe the statues within.
