Trafalgar Square
Located just an 8-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square officially received this name in 1830. It acts as a gateway between the primary shopping district in central London and the western part of the city.
Trafalgar Square is notable for its proximity to the National Gallery, built in 1832. The square features the iconic Nelson's Column, erected in 1843, and the fountains constructed in 1845. The bronze lions at the base of Nelson's Column were added in 1867. In July 2003, a significant project commenced, directly connecting the square to the National Gallery and expanding its space to accommodate concerts and performances.
