St. Nicholas Cathedral in Nice

Saint Nicholas Cathedral is an Orthodox church located in the city of Nice in the Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. The construction of this church dates back to the early 19th century, precisely in the year 1800. What's interesting is that the construction was carried out by wealthy Russian families who were residing in France at that time. It was built during the visit of Alexander II, the ruler of Russia at the time, to the city of Nice with his family. Unfortunately, his son Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich passed away during the visit. As a tribute to his memory, the wealthy families decided to establish a grand church in his name. Thus, Saint Nicholas Cathedral was created. To make it unique, they built it to be the largest cathedral in history. While it initially held that record, it's currently the largest cathedral in Western Europe.

Saint Nicholas Cathedral is an unparalleled artistic masterpiece from the interior, from the nave to the baptistry, to the decorations on the windows. Visitors are captivated by a beauty that they've never seen in any other church.
