Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It is the largest mosque in the UAE and the sixth-largest mosque in the world, covering an area of 412,22 square meters excluding the reflective pools around it.
The construction of this magnificent Islamic landmark took 11 years, from 1996 to 2007. The mosque has four minarets, 80 domes, and can accommodate approximately 52,000 worshippers. To accommodate this huge number of worshippers, the mosque is adorned with the world's largest carpet, covering an area of 5627 square meters. The total cost of building this grand mosque was 2.167 billion UAE dirhams.
Inside Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, you will find beautiful gardens and numerous water features, making it a popular destination for tourists, including non-Muslims and Arabs. The mosque is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
