The palace was built during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz between 1861 and 1876 for recreational and hunting purposes. Sultan Mahmud II's pavilion was the first to be constructed, followed by the majority of the pavilions during Sultan Abdulaziz's rule.

Overlooking the Bosphorus Strait, Maslak Palace is considered one of the most magnificent structures built by the Ottomans throughout history. It was opened as a museum in 1986.

The palace is surrounded by a large and beautiful garden filled with various types of flowers and roses. It also features several cafes within its garden and hosts various types of events and celebrations.
