Galata Tower

Galata Tower (Bereketzade Tower):

Galata Tower is one of the oldest towers in the Republic of Turkey, believed to have been built during the Middle Ages, possibly dating back to the Roman era. It is said to have been constructed in the 5th century and was renovated twice during the Ottoman Empire, once in the mid-14th century and again in the early 15th century after a fire broke out.

The tower stands at a height of 67 meters with 9 floors and is located in the Galata area, near the popular tourist street of Istiklal in Istanbul. Originally, it was used as an astronomical observatory and was later converted into a prison. However, in our present time, it is considered a tourist attraction.

Galata Tower is situated in the Galata area, which is a highly popular tourist destination. It receives around 800 visitors daily, with tourists ascending to the top of the tower to enjoy the enchanting view of the Bosphorus Strait. Additionally, some visitors relish dining at the tower's restaurant located on the seventh floor.
