Heikal Jalal al-Din al-Rumi

Jalal al-Din al-Rumi, also known as Mevlana, was a renowned poet and scholar, considered one of the greatest Sufi mystics of Persian-Turkish origin. He was born in 1207 AD and passed away in 1273 AD in the city of Konya, Turkey. His tomb in Konya has become a revered shrine that people visit to this day. Due to his significance in Sufism, a grand structure was erected in his honor in the city of Izmir, which is considered the largest of its kind in Turkey. Sufis are known for their spiritual circular dance, and this is depicted in the structure as Mevlana's right hand is raised towards the sky while his left hand points to the ground.
