Big Ben clock
On the northern edge of Westminster Palace in the heart of London stands Big Ben Clock Tower, a significant symbol of the United Kingdom. Designed by "Augustus Pugin," the tower features the distinctive neo-Gothic style. Upon its completion in 1859, it housed the world's largest and most accurate striking clock, with the tower's height reaching 96 meters. Ascending to the bell tower required climbing 334 steps. The clock tower's base is a square measuring 12 meters on each side, and the clock faces have a diameter of 0.7 meters.
On May 31, 2009, celebrations were held to mark the tower's 150th anniversary. On August 21, 2017, maintenance work began on the tower and clock, a four-year project that included the addition of an elevator.
