Latin bridge in Sarajevo

The Latin Bridge is a historic Ottoman bridge located over the Miljacka River in the city of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a significant tourist landmark in the city.

The Latin Bridge was built in 1541 as a wooden bridge. In 1791, it suffered extensive damage due to a major flood, and it was later reconstructed as a stone bridge.

The fame of the Latin Bridge comes from the notable incident that occurred nearby. The Serbian student Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sophie during their visit to Sarajevo. This event directly triggered the start of World War I.
