Al-Majidi Mosque (Ortakoy Mosque)
Mecidiye Mosque is located in the Ortaköy area of Istanbul. The mosque was built by the order of Sultan Abdulmejid I between the years 1823-1861 CE, and there is a seal on the top gate of the mosque that confirms this date.
The mosque underwent restoration in the year 1960 when it was on the verge of collapsing at that time.
Ortaköy Area:
This area is one of the most important tourist areas in Istanbul within the European part of the city. It is situated beneath the first Bosphorus suspension bridge. In addition to the enchanting view the area offers, there are numerous cafes and popular markets. The area is also known for Turkish waffles (wafel) and the traditional Turkish dish called "kumpir."
