Hira

Hira Cave is a cave located in the eastern part of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, on top of Mount Noor, to the left of the road leading to Mount Arafat. It stands at an elevation of 634 meters. This is the cave where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to retreat and meditate, and it is also the place where the angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) first appeared to the Prophet Muhammad, bringing the first revelations of the Holy Quran, according to Muslim belief.

The cave is situated about 4 kilometers away from the Masjid al-Haram, and visitors can have a view of Makkah from there.

It is worth mentioning that the cave can accommodate only four or five people at a time, yet it is visited annually by a large number of Muslims from around the world.
