The name "Hawiyat Najm" translates to "The Well of the Falling Star," attributed to the belief that the sinkhole was created by a meteorite impact centuries ago.
Over time, Hawiyat Najm has become a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors seeking relaxation and swimming opportunities. The authorities have developed a park surrounding the lake, providing various amenities for tourists, including restaurants and resting areas. Additionally, there are steps leading down to the lake for swimmers and divers.
