Princes' Islands: Captivating Natural Beauty and Tranquil Serenity
Princes' Islands are a group of islands located in the Sea of Marmara, in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. During the Byzantine period, these islands were used as places of exile, but they were later transformed into residential areas during the Ottoman era.
The islands consist of nine islands, but only three of them are well-known tourist destinations: Büyükada (the Big Island), Heybeliada, and Burgazada. These islands are famous for their exceptionally clean air, as the use of modern vehicles is prohibited, and visitors can only see bicycles and horse-drawn carriages. The islands are characterized by narrow streets surrounded by lush forests filled with various types of trees. The breathtaking landscapes and the tranquility that prevails throughout the islands are what attract tourists the most.
Getting to the Islands:
The only way to reach the Princes' Islands is by using the ports located in Istanbul. The first trip to the islands departs early in the morning, and the last trip back in winter is at 7:00 PM, while in the summer, it is at 9:00 PM.
