Palace of Emperor Diocletian
Diocletian's Palace dates back to the beginning of the 4th century AD and is one of the oldest Roman palaces in the world that still stands today. It is located in the city of Split in the country of Croatia. This archaeological site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
Diocletian's Palace is considered one of the most important heritage landmarks in Croatia. The palace served as the administrative center for Emperor Diocletian for eight years. It was built in the style of military barracks, indicating that it was used for both military and administrative purposes of the empire at that time. The palace is surrounded by strong walls designed to resist attacks, and it features several entrances, including a golden gate and a silver gate.
