Stockholm
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and its largest city. It is situated on the Stockholm archipelago, which is a collection of islands in Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea, making it one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The city has a population of approximately 900,000 people.
Stockholm is considered an economic center for Sweden.
History:
The history of Stockholm dates back hundreds of years. It was inhabited by some tribes and clans before King Birger Jarl founded it and took control in 1250. During the Middle Ages, the city became a prosperous economic center due to its strong relations with the Hanseatic cities, especially Lübeck. King Christian II became its ruler in the early 1520s, and he executed members of the Swedish National Party to consolidate his influence over Sweden. However, this rule lasted for only three years until Gustav Vasa became the king of Sweden. He made Stockholm the pulsating heart of his kingdom, and in 1634, it officially became the capital of Sweden.
Climate:
Stockholm experiences a humid continental and maritime climate. The summers are mild, with the highest temperatures reaching around 22 degrees Celsius. The winters are cold, with temperatures remaining below freezing for several weeks.
