Barcelona is a Spanish city located in the northeastern part of Spain. It serves as the capital of the autonomous community of Catalonia. Situated about 160 km from the Pyrenees mountains, it is the second-largest city in Spain after Madrid and the sixth-most densely populated city in the European Union. The city itself has a population of around 1,615,448 people, and when including its suburbs, the population exceeds 4 million. Barcelona has been ranked as the fourth smartest city in Europe and the fifth-best city in the world in terms of quality of life. The city is bordered by the Besos River to the northeast and the Llobregat River to the southeast.

History:

Barcelona is known for its rich historical heritage, as it has been influenced by various cultures throughout the ages. It was once a Roman stronghold in the 5th century BCE, and evidence of its Roman past can still be found, including Roman ruins displayed in Plaza del Rey as part of the city's history. The city experienced complete destruction twice, first during the collapse of the Catalan Republic and later during the Spanish Civil War. However, it rose again and flourished during the Islamic rule.

Climate:

Barcelona is situated on the northeastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, facing the Mediterranean Sea. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate, characterized by moderate and rainy winters and warm summers. The average annual rainfall is about 700 mm, with most of the rainfall occurring during the winter season. The average temperature in the warmest months is around 24 degrees Celsius, while in the coldest months, it can drop to -4 degrees Celsius.
