Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi (in English: Abu Dhabi) is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is located in the northern part of the country and is one of the seven emirates that form the UAE. Abu Dhabi serves as the seat of the ruler of Abu Dhabi and the crown prince, as well as the location of embassies and the Prime Minister's office. It covers an area of 67,340 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 2 million people. The city has attracted more than 75,000 millionaires due to its openness to commercial, economic, and tourist investments.
Name and History:
The ancient name of the city in most areas was "Um Al-Nar" (Mother of Fire), and later it was named Abu Dhabi because it is the home of gazelles.
Before the discovery of oil, the city's inhabitants primarily relied on camel breeding, fishing, pearl diving, and the cultivation of various types of dates. Their life was nomadic as they moved to places where water was available, making it easier for them to farm and raise camels. Most of the ancient population was distributed between the regions of Al Ain and Liwa.
By the mid-20th century, synthetic pearls started to appear, disrupting the economic balance of the city, which mainly relied on natural pearl diving. This coincided with the deterioration of infrastructure, and the economy was limited to selling some food and animal products in small markets. This continued until the beginning of 1966 when the United Arab Emirates emerged, and the discovery of oil led to rapid and significant prosperity in the city.
Climate:
Abu Dhabi's climate, like other emirates in the UAE, is semi-tropical and arid. It is characterized by extremely hot summers with high humidity levels and warm winters with very little rainfall. The city is sunny most days of the year.
