The Grand Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) is one of the oldest and largest markets in the world, dating back to the era of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror during his reign in Istanbul. The construction of the market began in 1451 and was completed in 1481. The Grand Bazaar comprises around 60 streets and approximately 4,000 shops.

The Grand Bazaar attracts around 300,000 tourists daily, indicating its extensive popularity. It is located in the Beyazıt area, which is one of the most tourist-packed areas in Istanbul. This area is home to several other tourist attractions such as the Hagia Sophia, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, and many more.

The market hosts a wide variety of shops, making it one of the most comprehensive markets in the world. You can find shops specializing in spices, sweets, gold, modern and historical clothing, and many other types of merchandise. The Grand Bazaar also features renowned restaurants, with one of the most famous examples being the Nusret Restaurant.
