Explore the history of frankincense at the Land of Frankincense Museum Amman
The Land of Frankincense Museum is located in the city of Salalah, Oman, and was inaugurated in 2007. It took two years to build the museum, thanks to the support of the late Sultan Qaboos.
The Land of Frankincense Museum is divided into two main halls: the History Hall and the Maritime Hall.
- History Hall: The History Hall at the Land of Frankincense Museum showcases six different sections with the following titles: "The Land of Frankincense," "Ancient Oman," "Geography and Terrain of Oman," "Highlights from Omani History," "Contemporary Oman Renaissance," and "The History of Islam in Oman."
- Maritime Hall: The Maritime Hall contains seven sections with the following titles: "The Sea," "Maritime Heritage," "Sailing," "Virtual Maritime Reality," "The Renaissance," "Boat and Sailboat Construction," and "Trade."
Operating Hours:
The Land of Frankincense Museum is open to visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, except on Saturdays and Fridays when it opens from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Location:
The Land of Frankincense Museum is situated on the coastal strip of Salalah, in the Al Baleed Archaeological Park in the Al Haffa area. The Al Baleed Archaeological Park is a site dating back to the Islamic era, with remains of ancient houses and mosques.
