Louis I Bridge, the most beautiful bridges in Portugal!

The construction of the Dom Luís I Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte de Dom Luís I) in Porto began in 1881 and was completed in 1886. At that time, King Louis I of Portugal inaugurated the bridge and it was named after him.

Importance of Dom Luís I Bridge:

Dom Luís I Bridge was designed by one of the disciples of the world-renowned architect Gustave Eiffel, the designer of the famous Eiffel Tower in France. The bridge is known for being the longest of its kind at the time of its construction, spanning 172 meters over the iconic Douro River and providing a magnificent view of Porto's historic city. The bridge includes a pedestrian pathway connecting Porto's center to the other side of the city, as well as a pathway for railways and vehicles.
