History:

According to historians and archaeologists, the history of the city dates back to 185 BC when it was founded by the Bithynian king Prusias and was named after him. The Seljuks conquered Bursa in the late 11th century, and the city changed hands between the Seljuks and the Byzantines until the Ottomans, led by Sultan Orhan, conquered it in the early 14th century. Bursa became the capital of the Ottoman state at the beginning of 1326 and remained so until the Ottoman conquest of Edirne in 1365. It was invaded by Tamerlane in 1402 and later returned to Ottoman rule, but it lost its significance due to the destruction caused by Tamerlane, becoming today the fourth most important city in Turkey from a tourist and industrial perspective.

Today, Bursa is a thriving city surrounded by green mountainous nature, earning it the nickname "Green Bursa." It boasts old neighborhoods and numerous squares adorned with historical buildings that gain importance with their age and history. Tourism flourishes in winter due to its proximity to the famous snowy Mount Uludağ, known for winter sports, and it also features therapeutic mineral baths.

Islamic Architecture:

Bursa stands out for its numerous historical landmarks with an Islamic character. One notable example is the Green Mosque, adorned with beautiful Islamic ornamentation and dating back to 1413. The Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami) houses the covering of the door of the Holy Kaaba, dating back to the 15th century. The Green Tomb, considered the first school in the Ottoman state, and the Islamic Museum housing various Islamic artifacts from different eras are also noteworthy.
